About Me

Hi there! I’m Sarah — the face behind Celiac Sarah Explores. When I was first diagnosed with celiac disease, I was scared. I remember thinking, “Am I ever going to eat pasta in Italy, have fried rice in Thailand, or travel again?” As a recent college graduate, a Division 1 athlete, and someone who lived for food, fitness, and adventure, my diagnosis felt overwhelming. Learning to eat gluten free, avoid cross-contact, and handle the anxiety around food was tough — but with time, therapy, and a lot of patience, I started to feel stronger, healthier, and more confident.

I refused to let celiac disease stop me from exploring the world. My first trips after being diagnosed were full of learning moments, but they also gave me a sense of freedom I didn’t think was possible. During one especially lonely dinner in Mexico, I realized how isolating gluten free travel could feel and that’s what inspired me to start sharing my journey online. What began as a way to connect has now grown into a community of 100,000+ people across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. So far, I have visited 22 U.S. states and 32 countries with a goal of hitting 100 countries while finding the best gluten free eats around the world. If you’ve ever felt like celiac disease is holding you back, I promise — you can still live fully, eat well, and see the world.
